💀🔥 Lentera Nusantara's Ghostly Dev Talk – Laughs, Tears, and Pesugihan's Galore! 🔥💀
Hello there, fellow ghost wranglers and haunted hearts! 👻
Are you ready to dive into the spooky madness that is Lentera Nusantara’s latest podcast live event? If you’re a fan of dark humor, awkward moments, and heartwarming tales of indie game struggles, then this post is for you. Whether you play our games or just want a reason to laugh at someone else’s pain (we’re looking at you, internet), we’ve got a treat for you.
🎙️ The Dev Talk That Went Off the Rails (in the Best Way Possible)
In our latest live podcast, we got the team together to talk about how we somehow survived the rollercoaster of indie game development. Featuring Mas Febrian, Bang Satrio, and a few other poor souls from our dev team (rumor says the spirit of our CEO, Assattari, suddenly appears and it gaves us such a jumpscare!), the session was less of a structured discussion and more of a chaotic ghost story – but hey, that’s what makes it fun, right?
Here are the “highlights” (aka moments of our souls leaving our bodies):
- The Birth of Tuyul Mantul (or: How We Learned to Cry and Laugh at the Same Time)
- Mas Febrian revealed that Tuyul Mantul took 14 months to develop – mostly because we had to balance game-making with deep existential dread. Moving from PC to mobile was like trying to teach a ghost to use an iPhone. But hey, we pulled it off somehow, and now you can pinball your way through haunted levels and boss fights that’ll make you both curse us and applaud our genius. (Please do the latter.)
- Satrio’s 3D Nightmare (a Tale of Tears, Laughter, and A LOT of Coffee)
- Picture this: A small indie team with limited resources deciding to go from 2D to 3D. Now add screaming, technical disasters, and a few jokes darker than Tuyul’s favorite hiding spots. That’s how Tuyul Mantul was born in its current form. We wanted to give you adorable-yet-challenging gameplay - and all it cost us was a piece of our sanity.
- Ghost Breaker: Because Smashing Things is Therapeutic
- Ghost Breaker started as an experiment to see if we could make a brick breaker game… but with more ghosts, more humor, and more reasons to yell “why?!” at your screen. The plot? Suri and Tuyul are on a “spiritual” journey (translation: they’re trying to avoid reincarnation) and have to break their way through a bunch of meddling ghosts. It’s basically therapy with a side of dark comedy.
- Why You Should Watch the Recording of Our Podcast (Trust Us, It’s a Wild Ride)
- If you want to hear us ramble, crack terrible jokes, and maybe drop some dev secrets (that we’ll regret later), go check out the recording on YouTube. We promise you’ll laugh, cry, and wonder how we’re still functioning human beings. You might even want to join our next Dev Talk session on Discord (because misery loves company).
🕹️ Game Development: Where Fun Meets Suffering (Oh Well, We Love It Anyway)
Now, let’s get real for a second. Making games is hard – and making them while juggling the chaos of indie life is even harder. But there’s something special about seeing your twisted ideas come to life, especially when you’re turning ghostly folklore into something people can laugh at and enjoy. We took those quirky characters from our comic, Ghost Parade, and turned them into games that balance humor, challenge, and a bit of that Indonesian folklore magic.
Here’s how we survived (barely):
- Prototyping – AKA “Let’s Throw Ideas at the Wall and See What Sticks”: We spent weeks testing, breaking, and rebuilding mechanics. For Tuyul Mantul, we wanted to blend pinball-style fun with ghostly humor. It wasn’t easy, but the end result is something we’re proud of (even if it gave us nightmares).
- Dark Jokes and Cute Ghosts – Our Recipe for Success: Our characters are lovable little ghouls with personalities that make them perfect for the kind of dark humor we specialize in. Whether it’s Tuyul plotting schemes or Suri’s eternal frustration with life (and death), we wanted our games to feel like an extension of the comedy you see in our Ghost Parade comics.
- Your Feedback = Our Lifeline: We’re not kidding when we say your feedback shapes our games. The community’s ideas, jokes, and even criticisms help us fine-tune everything, making the experience better (and funnier). So please, keep them coming!
👾 What’s Next? More Jokes, More Ghosts, and More Madness
- Expect more event stages, seasonal content, and maybe a few surprise features we’re cooking up (or at least trying to without setting the office on fire). And yes, more spooky jokes because that’s what we do best. We don't know what else.
- Also, Ghost Breaker is coming soon, so keep your eyes peeled. And if you haven’t played Tuyul Mantul yet… what are you waiting for? Go get it on Google Play and start pinballing your way through ghostly mayhem!
